Agronomics

The hands-on team at DCS works with you, from field to lab to spreadsheet, creating a site-specific, goal-oriented plan to improve and maintain turf health.  Taking a holistic approach to the management of turfgrass playing surfaces, DCS looks at sunlight availability, soil compaction, topography, turf varieties, neighbouring trees and vegetation, and soil moisture and irrigation, along with soil fertility. Our consultants are knowledgeable in laboratory testing procedures as well as nutritional soil analysis, physical evaluation of growing medias, plant tissue analysis and the influence of water quality on soil fertility.  We utilize the services of several laboratories and professional advisors to ensure our clients are provided with non-biased testing services and advice.  We include MLSN guidelines in our teaching to provide our clients with nutrient recommendations that are fiscally sustainable and environmentally responsible.  We work with our clients’ preferences, skills and expertise in mind to develop nutrition and cultural management programs that fit.

Project Planning & Specifications

With extensive experience providing consultation for the development of new outdoor natural turfgrass facilities across Eastern Canada, DCS has become a leading expert in the planning and construction of new golf courses, parks, athletic fields and green spaces. The DCS team regularly partners with landscape architects and facility managers to oversee construction; from the development of growing-medium, sod, irrigation and drainage specifications and RFPs, to sourcing and testing construction materials, to ongoing quality control and turf maintenance recommendations.

Environmental

Our team is ready to meet the growing demands of an industry that is ever more aware of and subject to environmental issues and regulation.  Our affiliation with both local and international laboratories and industry experts makes it possible to offer many options for environmental testing and support. With a vested interest in environmental protection and impact reduction, we make it our business to stay up-to-date with new findings and best practices for environmental stewardship.

MAPPING SERVICES

DCS is regularly involved in mapping projects for a wide range of purposes. These include detailed topographical mapping to determine cupping area on golf greens or bunker volume, area mapping to estimate fertilizer supply needs, and elevation mapping for use in design and construction. Call us with your project ideas.
